Happy Birthday, Desiree!

Blog button designed for Desiree by Carol.

In the four years I've been blogging I've met a number of people here whom I've come to consider friends. Women I've never met face to face, but whom I'd be willing to do just about anything for. And much like life in the real world, the virtual world offers a continuous array of new friends just waiting to be met. Often one friend leads to another, which is where I'm headed with this post.

I don't remember how I found her, but I've been reading Carol's laugh-until-you-cry funny blog, Facing 50 With Humor, for months. I look forward to her posts, certain I'll be entertained, and that I'll find something to relate to in her stories of life with hubby and son and mom.

And through Carol, I met Desiree, whose birthday is today. Her blog, Driftwood Ramblings, is both funny, and offers amazing photography as well.

Because we've not had the chance to sit over tea and learn each other's lives, I'm not sure how well Carol and Desiree know each other. But in the tradition of all best friends everywhere, Carol wanted to give Desiree a special gift for her birthday. She designed a blog button for her, and invited Desiree's blog buddies to join in the celebration.

So, Desiree, I wish you the happiest, most joy-filled day ever. May your celebration exceed all expectations. May this year bring wishes come true and more love than your heart can hold.

For those of you reading, I hope you'll give yourself the gift of checking out the blogs of these two lovely women. My friends. You won't be sorry.

I agree that my virtual friends are important in my life. The only reason I won't go over to check them out right now is that I'm already overextended in the blogosphere and travel isn't helping! But I can say Happy Birthday, Desiree, anyway!!

You're right about Blog Friends, Deb. Who would even imagine people we may never meet would be so important to us? I'll definitely visit these two women who are your friends.

Hi Deb!

I have been completely overwhelmed by the incredible way in which everyone has pulled together, at Carol's instigation (@Facing 50 With Humour) and spurred on by Karen (@Out of my Mind)...I had no inkling all of you were up to something and, from the moment I received an email from Carol this morning alerting me to everything that has happened today, it has been phenomenal! I am truly touched by all of the love, kindness and generosity of spirit that has flowed to me, in abundance, today! THANK YOU so much, Deb, for your part in all of this and for your wonderful birthday message!

Hugs,

Des xoxo

Deb what a lovely post this is. You always seem to be able to write exactly the right words.
I'm feeling all soppy today what with all this bloggy love flying around. (and another bottle of extra strong cough mixture...mmmm might be getting addicted to this now :)
I haven't known Desiree very long but in Blogland you make some very good friends who share much of their lives with you. Desiree seems to love blogging so much and all the people she is involved with that it seemed a simple idea to combine the button with her birthday. (She let it slip the other day)
So let it be a warning to everyone who reads my blog or contacts me never divulge your birthday or I might do something mischievous.

I'm blown away by the number of blogs out there and the wonderful people I've "met" while visting different sites. I wish I had more hours in the day to devote to many more blogs because they are so interesting and inspiring. I'm heading over to visit these new ones now. I trust your taste, so they must be good!

What a lovely post. I know what you mean about the friendships in the blogosphere. Virtual though they are, they feel every bit as real as the ones I enjoy with my off-line peeps.
